Board Layout

As you can see from the pictures below, the layout of the two boards are the same save the SCSI / IDE ports. The only flaw I found was that installing or removing memory with heatsinks installed was a bit tight. Other than that the layout is perfect for the intended purpose of this board and I can definitely see it fitting without any trouble into a 1U rackmount case (at least all the ones I have seen). The power supply connector, SCSI and IDE connectors, capacitors, etc are all well placed... For a 1U case. If you're planning to build a machine in a tower case you won't dissappointed either. This board fits anywhere.

The Test System

Both boards were configured the same except for the hard drives. The Thunder LE was blessed with one of my 18gb Seagate Cheetahs (10000rpm, U160) while the Tiger LE settled in with a pair of IBM 34GXP's (7200rpm, ATA66). The rest of the system went like this:

  • PIII 866 (133mhz FSB) x 2 (From zZQonline)
  • 256mb PC133 Registered ECC x 2 (From Corsairmicro)
  • And ummm...

Really! That's it! Everything else in built-in to the board. Just add memory, processors, drives and a case... You're rolling.
