SunGard Adaptiv Credit Risk application is a component of SunGard's comprehensive suite of risk management products ( This workload is a scaled down version of the full application. At its core, the application utilizes a proprietary Monte Carlo method financial engine to determine the future value of a fictitious portfolio.

This package consists of a Microsoft Windows based .NET application and two data files - a sample market data and a sample portfolio, which provide input to the financial engine.

Sungard isn't scaling quite as well as some of the other tests in this review. In fact, I think this workload may be running out of headroom... But I'll save that info for another review (check back in a few weeks or so).

x264 Bench 3.0 HD

The x264 benchmark is a reproducible measure of how fast your machine can encode a short, HD-quality video clip into a high quality x264 video file. The video encoder (x264.exe) reports a fairly accurate internal benchmark (in frames per second) for each pass of the video encode (Four two-pass encodes) and it also uses multi-core processors very efficiently. All these factors make this an ideal benchmark to compare different processors and systems to each other.

If the application is written well, video encoding is quite possibly one of those "killer apps" for multi-threaded, multi-core processors. With the advent of HD and its associated large, complex video files, processing power is in serious demand in the post-production room.
