Dr. Damage on 4x AGP and Win2k

You can always count on the Doctors over at the Tech Report to lay some smack when some smack is needed and this time is no exception. One of the most discussed topics in our forums ever since the VIA based motherboards came out has been, "How come AGP 4x doesn't work on my XXX motherboard with my XXX video card?" To which the reply is usually, "Who cares, it doesn't help anyway."

But why doesn't it work? Would it help if it did? If you've been asking yourself those questions, then read this and be prepared to be educated.
