Hotrail bails on AMD

Apparently Hotrail was producing a high performance eight-way server chipset for AMD's Athlon processor when it decided to bail on the market and concentrate on networking products.

While AMD is still working on their own mulit-processor chipset, this is a blow for AMD's push into the high-end, high-profit Server market. AMD doesn't seem to concered though, and neither are the analysts:
I really doubt that this will affect AMD," said Hal Feeney, an analyst at Pathfinder Research Inc., San Jose. "The high-end server market is far out of the mainstream at AMD right now. I think AMD's priority is to build and ship as many [consumer-oriented] processors as they can."
