Infiniband to replace PCI
Posted on: 06/26/2000 02:35 PM

Arstechnica pointed me to an article over on Wired about the replacement for the aging and relatively slow PCI interface:
InfiniBand is being developed by the InfiniBand Trade Association, which is backed by both IBM and Intel. Its goal is a new input/output specification to replace the current PCI and PCI-X technology.
We probably won't see this in desktop machines for a very long time. Servers always get the fastest stuff.
