Quake3 Security Advisory!

Well, its not every day you get a security advisory involving a computer game. ID Software Inc announced today that Quake3 has a security flaw that could leave the players' computer open to attack during gameplay.
"The basic nature of the exploit is that malicious server operators could overwrite any file on a client system," wrote Robert Duffy, a programmer at Id Software.
ID Software jumped all over the exploit as soon as they were notified by Internet Security Systems Inc, who discovered the flaw. It has been fixed in Quake3's latest patch release, Version 1.17 which you can download here.
