Zdnet is reporting that RedHat released an alpha version of a complete IA 64 Linux distribution to developers yesterday. Its the first public code release of a full-blown 64-bit Linux from kernel to applications.
In a prepared statement, Michael Pope, Intel's director of e-Business Solutions Marketing, said, "This release will enable the open-source Linux community to accelerate their development of advanced server and workstation applications for Itanium processor based systems."
Its fully available to download from RedHat, but they warn only serious developers with the proper gear to give it a whirl.
