Gamespy.com is running an interesting article on the state of Linux gaming. With the advent of XFree 4, Linux gaming performance (on nVidia graphics cards anyways) has really seen a boost. It still has a steep hill to climb if toppling Windows as a gaming platform is a serious goal.
"Open Source is revolutionizing the video game industry by transferring ownership of the game platform to the development community, enabling them to push the platform faster and further than ever before. The end result will be more games, and much better games, for everyone."
With the work of companies like Loki and Indrema, I have a good feeling about Linux gaming. Check it out here.
