The Register always keeps us on our toes with the news! It appears that VA Linux isn't content with selling only Linux servers. They are going to start packaging complete Linux desktop systems, at an affordable price. The StartX will appeal to anyone wanting a solid system without the hassle of setting it up themselves.
The StartX SP2 comes in at under $800, and offers a choice of 466MHz Celeron or PIII (at 533MHz or 733MHz) CPU, 10GB or 12GB hard drive, 48x cdrom, and no screen, 17in or 19in monitor. VA has bundled a sound card, and graphics acceleration is integrated into the machine's Intel 810E chipset.

VA is also offering the Celeron-only StartX SP and the dual PIII StartX MP.
This has the potential of exposing many more computer users to Linux. Check out the rest of the article here.
