VIA and Intel step back
Posted on: 07/07/2000 09:11 PM

This broke yesterday but i bagged it till zMac20s mailed me. How can i resist :)

Well it seems the two companies have settled and dropped the suits against each other. Here's an interesting bit:
VIA is known to have a DDR chipset in development that will support the Pentium 4, and people within the company have confirmed these plans. What is not known is whether Intel has given VIA a license to make such a chipset. The settlement does cover a VIA license to make DDR chipsets for Intel's Pentium II, Pentium III and Celeron chips.
Juicy!.
