Williamette to cling to RAMBUS

Ars Technica reports on a story from EETimes concerning Intel's risky move by confining the next Intel CPU to RAMBUS exclusively.

Hannibal says this about the whole thing:
I honestly don't think a RAMBUS-based mid-range strategy will work, though, if AMD can keep production up. I expect to see Intel put out something like the i820's MTH, except for Willamette chipsets, before long -- especially if T-bird and Spitfire put the price/performance pressure on.
We'll just have to see whether or not DDR is accepted as the standard elsewhere before giving RAMBUS it's last rights.
