DigiTimes made it onto the 'is there any news in this world' list today and a few items looked of note. Jim_ will be rapt in the news that Abit is going to build a new server factory:
Abit Computer approved building a new factory in Taoyuan, Taiwan at a shareholders meeting on June 20....There's even tidbits on what's really inside your beloved name brand system:
When asked about its cooperation with Compaq Computer now that the company has merged with Hewlett-Packard (HP), Abit said that it is trying partner with the new HP and at least for 2002 its barebone system orders from Compaq Singapore remain unchanged.There's also a short piece on how motherboard manufacturers are adding overclocking features into boards to force Intel into speeding up the release of higher specification chipsets.
Besides adding more value to their products, companies are drawn to the overclocking strategy hoping that they can affect Intel
