Ace's Hardware evaluates Athlon MP!

I know you're probably wondering: "Why didn't they just lump Ace's review in with the rest?". In my opinion it deserves its own. If you're an architecture buff, Ace's Hardware is where you belong. Architecture doesn't interest a lot of people. Generally end-users want to know how fast it runs, how long it will run for, and how much it will cost to get it running. Me? I like to know how it ticks. Why it runs that fast, why it runs that long.

Disable the cache of a modern 7th generation CPU like the Athlon and you'll get 5th generation performance, if you're lucky. While the caches are absolutely a conditione sine qua non for performance, they introduce a fundamental problem in Multi Processor (MP) systems.Take the time to read this, I implore you. Cache coherency is quite cool.
