A 64 bit system doesn't necessarily support 2^64 bytes of memory. Not all of the address lines are hooked up so although the system can address 2^64 bytes of memory it may only be able to address 1TB of physical memory. Depending on the OS, the other bits of the memory space could be used to separate memory spaces or not used at all. |

Maybe so, but how far off are we from seeing a system that "may only be able to address 1TB of physical memory"? I'm probably wrong but the largest memory I've seen in a server is 32gb, so it seems to me that we're a good few years before the addressable memory becomes an issue.
