ATI's version of SLI?

The Inquirer has an article up about ATI's response to NVIDIA's SLI...

ATI has its marchitecture ready and we learned that you will be able to do ATI Multiple VPU with two different cards. You will be able to plug one X800 and one X850 cards together and faster card will downscale to the slower and will work simultaiously with it.

I'm not 100% sure, but from the little I've read, it seems that ATi's SLi is actually more flexible than nVidia's. ATi's got something under their sleeve that, if the hype is anywhere close to the truth, could really give nVidia a run for their money.
