Buy a Thunder K7 Today!

I thought I would let you all know that our hardware sponsor, zZQ Online, is currently listing the Thunder K7 for $569 (USD). You can also pick-up a pair of 1.2GHZ Athlon MP's from Josh for $251 (USD) each as well.

If you're in the market for some dual AMD goodness, give zZQ Online a look and let them know who sent you ;-)

I'm holding out for a Tiger K7.... When the faster AthlonMPs debut, those 1.2ghz rockets will drop in price, too.

:D

FWIW, that price will drop below $500 next week sometime...so a little flower told me... :D

A couple Apple products and a bizarre ASUS S479 box.

in short words (my english is not the best ;-)) ) ->
the German magazine c't have tested two 'normal' 1333Mhz Athlons and also two 900Mhz Durons
at the Tyan mainboard. They are running well !
Problem-Benchmarks at the Tyan-Board are 'Quake3 with active dual' and '3DMark2001' - but
only with the unsupported AMD's (1333er 'normal' Athlon/Duron ... the c't suppose missing drivers).

A benchmark of reality - e.g. the benchmark of the 3D-software Cinema4D - shows the power
of the Athlons : 1,2 and also the unsupported 1,333 are faster than the new (!) Dual-Xeon 1,7.

A dual-Duron 900 is not the best solution - it should be 30% slowlier than Dual PIII-1Ghz.

The new Tyanboard couldn't be overclocked - only 100 and 133Mhz is possible - and only
Registered DDR-SDRAM-DIMM's are supported.

Waaaaa! I just about had myself talked into getting the Thunder K7 when I noticed it only has 64 bit/33mhz slots and not 64 bit/ 66 mhz.

Guess I'll have to wait till the Abit or gigabyte boards come around.

That's actually the chipset - not the board. The MPX with 66Mhz PCI will be here soon.

Does anyone know the time frames for the release of the higher megahertz Palominos MP/Athlon 4?

Thanks!
