ECS ships dual AMD-Intel mobo

This post at The Register might prove to be entertaining. How about a motherboard that will take an AMD or an Intel processor?
The board, the PF88, uses an old technique: the daughtercard. Out of the box, the motherboard sports an LGA775 socket ready for an Intel Pentium of Celeron D processor, be they single- or dual-core. The board is based on SiS' SiS656 chipset. AMD fans may also purchase the A9S daughter card. This slots into a proprietary, 'SIMA' bus and provides a Socket 939 interconnect. You can see pictures of this unusual beast right here.

Isn't that the northbridge I see directly below where the AMD CPU would go? Wouldn't heat to passively-cooled northbridge be an issue? Also, the large daughterboard would impede airflow in most cases. Theres no problem with passively cooled northbridge, even the NF4 Pro can be passively cooled without any issues. For all Iwill and Coolermaster ECD Products in AU Website: http://www.synrax.com/ Email: sales@synrax.com |

Wow: something as neat as it is useless. This deserves a slashdot posting. |

Of course that doesn't help the fact that the daughtercard also blocks off a PCI-E slot (a moot point, I suppose, if the chipset/board never passes SLI/Crossfire certification) and fouls up the airflow too. Plus it's a $204 ECS board |

I saw a huge marlin fishing boat in the tropics a while back. Its name is WOFTAM. the boat was very useful in comparison as you could catch bottom dwelling edible fish for dinner - not just marlin for tag & release. |

The most interesting part to me is the card for the Turion processor. Anjel Folding at Home - AMD Turion 64 1.6Ghz @ 2.0Ghz 1.08v |
