Gigabyte and MSI 760MPX Boards

Posted by: Hooz on: 03/10/2002 12:52 AM [ Print | 9 comment(s) ]

Brad from ProCooling popped in the IRC channel to let me know that that the Gigabyte and MSI 760MPX boards are showing-up on Akiba. I didn't bother to Babblefish the page, I just looked at the pretty pictures.

thanks for the pimpage ;)

note the funny atx i/o layout on the gigabyte, and of course, the gigabyte has sound, lan, and raid. Also, the custom atx i/o panel cover they provide covers up the usb ports

also, the msi usb card has an internal usb port, and is only 32bit 33mhz

The MSI web page shows a USB 2.0 4 port card that comes with the M/B. It looks a lot like (identical) to the one that came with the asus mpx M/B.

The info on Gigabyte's site seems outdated to me. If you look carefully you'll see that the picture on the Gigabyte website is from 2001 and has the 4-pin power connector near the AGP slot. The most recent pics from Akiba, however, show this connector near the top of the board. There are also other subtle differences.

The Gigabyte website might *say* this board has onboard USB but I won't believe it until they update their site. To me, the blocked off USB ports in the latest pics mean that this new board will be using a separate USB card.
