It appears that Gigabyte is ready to step into the dual AMD ring. They have posted the specifications and a nice picture of their new GA-7DPXDW motherboard.
If nothing else, it sure is neat looking!

![]() I got in no problem, did anyone else notice the FOUR ide connections? can we say ide raid (even though softraid MAY be faster) it also has several dipswitches meaning a good possibility that overclockers will get something to play with it also has onboard usb (in an odd place) and an onboard nic thus leaving 3 free 32/33 pci slots if anybody has experience w/ gigabyte motherboards plz post since i have never ran one, i would like to know how stable they are. ![]() it has a variety of fsb options on the board for 90 - 133mhz fsb, nothing above that though, it also supports multiplier changing Clevo D870P Notebook, P4 3.4ghz NW, 1gb DDR400, Intel 865PE, ATI 9700 Pro 256mb, 60gb, 80gb, DVDRW, 17" LCD, TV Tuner, 1 hour battery life Athlon 64 3700 Sandy @ 9x315 with XP-120, Asus A8N32-SLI, 2x 512mb PC3200 @ 315mhz 2.5/3/4/8, 2x 7800GTX @ 490/1325, 1x 74gb Raptor, 3x 160gb SATA, Audigy 2 ZS, Silverstone TJ-03, Zippy 700w. ![]() DracoDan,I'm using a dual PIII Gigabyte motherboard(dual 1 gig processors) and haven't had no issues with it although I don't think this board is overclockable at all(wish it was) mine is a GA-6VXDC7. Been running it 24/7 for months with no problems. Now I hope that the dual AMD motherboard is stable, I wouldn't mind putting it in my AMD box that has a MSI-6167 motherboard(900mhz thunderbird) if it would fit, having a dual AMD/intel systems is w00t for me. Notice I don't have any boards that is overclockable? LOL I'm a sad one indeed LOL rig 1:Athlon 900 thunderbird rig 2:dual PIII 1 gig rig 3: dual freebsd PIII 667 mhz rig 4: would like a rackmount system :P |

![]() It looks like it should be a pretty good board. I'm still waiting for a features comparison between all the new mpx boards out there from somebody. BTW: Hooz - Cowboy Bebop is the greatest anime ever. I love the icon. -stevil |

Only MPX boards shipping right now are Tyan and Asus. Got within about 0.5cm of the MSI last night, but that was a plexiglass display case - no shipping data on the sucker yet. Walking the streets of Tokyo (Akihabara), the Asus MPX is available, Tiger MP in several places, but no Tyan MPX, nor any other MPX - also no dates available either. I got bored and just on-line ordered the 2466N from the US - who cares about shipping charges! Lian-Li PC-76|Tyan S2466N|2xXP1700|2GB Reg ECC|Enermax651/301 Dual PSU|5x36ES Raid5 ICP Vortex GDT8623RZ|3Ware 7500-8|4xWD1000JB Raid5, 2xMaxtor80GB Raid0|SB Audigy|WinXPSP1|More PCs |

It sounds like they might have just added an on-board usb controller separate from the chipset... so yes, usb should work, but would a usb keyboard get you into your bios? I don't think so... Anyone miss their dual ppro system? ![]() |

![]() I'll never buy MSI again, their stuff is just not stable, 3 of the last 4 boards I've had of their stuff had stability issues. I put the same hardware on Abit and Asus and Gigabyte boards and all was fine. I love Gigabyte stuff. It's my new corp standard I use for low-end servers, since I don't overclock the systems I build for corp use. Used to use SuperMicro and Tyan only, but I've found that Gigabyte's stuff is rock-solid at a comparitive discount. I also have that same dual PIII board and it's stability has blown away the VP6 stability, never a single blue screen or freeze EVER, and it's been running and handling requests for 24/7 for six months with Win2k Pro SP1 running Apache's Jakarta-Tomcat servlet engine. Haven't even had to restart tomcat once! Rhino |

![]() I'm thinking my next duallie may involve that Gigabyte board, as my VP6 is beginning to drive me nuts. Hopefully, the board won't be too expensive though (as in $200 or less).
