We have our first logo submission! What do you all think of this one?

Let me be the first to comment as I've been staring at it for quite a while now. I absolutely LOVE the green 2 in the background and the two processors. I am not that crazy about the white "2cpu.com" in the front. I don't know if it is the font or what, but something just doesn't look right to me.

It's a very nice start though.

you don't like the 2cpu.com because it's 3 different fonts. if it was all the same font (though different sizes) it would work better. maybe if it was 2 fonts, one for the 2 and another for the rest...

My suggestion is: "Are you ready for a dual?" or maybe "Can you handle a dual?" It's a play on words, duel/dual.

I think Jig nailed it on the head. It would be much better if the 2 and the .com were the same font as the cpu, IMHO.

edit: hmm... upon futher review it looks like the .com might be the same font, but because it is a different size it lacks the continuity which throws it off. I guess if just the 2 didn't have the to lines through it, that would help.

Let's get Shakespearean:

2CPU or not 2CPU.

Technically, this would cover everything.

For the geeks:

2CPU | ^2CPU.

Oh, and personally I hate flash on websites unless I'm watching a cartoon.

Keep the ideas flowing gentlemen. We want as much input as possible. Hopefully we'll get some additional logos to look at as well!

Keep in mind that the slogan doesn't necessarily have to pertain specifically to SMP, either. It can be more broad.

Two more logos!

I kind of dig the "Strength in numbers" slogan.

A couple of thoughts...

I was thinking about a similar logo design to the one Hooz first posted, except with the Roman numerals 'II' in the background instead of '2', and just a single font. Also, I'd dropped the '.com', and merely put '2CPU' in the foreground. From a design point of view, I don't think you need the '.com' suffix, and having a look around at several other hardware sites I've bookmarked, they seem to agree ~ Ace's, Anandtech, Ars, Hardware Central, LostCircuits, THG and [H] all go for a brand name as opposed to a brand URL.

Looking at Ars gave me another idea, to give the site logo that 'professional polish'. They have a red-toned photo in the background behind their logo. How about a green-toned photograph of two processors, with the same fade effect. I tried to do it in Photoshop and PSP without success, but I'm sure someone with a modicum of talent could demonstrate the effect I'm trying to explain.

As for slogans...

Double your power
Double your fun
Double your [insert whatever]
More is better
Way too much is just enough

and my personal choice, Power2

Although I do like Strength in numbers too.

Do you have to have ".com" on the logo?

Try the first logo, remove the ".com", remove the white "2" and remove the underlining (i.e., leave just the big dark "2", the word "CPU" and the two CPUs. Less is more, sometimes.

And I still think "a good pair" would attract more Google hits. ;) :D

here are 2 suggestions i've got for the logo. i don't really like the font of the 2, but it's the same font as the cpu is, and i couldn't find anything more impactful that i liked.

(and yes, the first one is sort of a joke :D )

IIRC from when I made the first 2CPU Folding logo, the fonts of the main logo are Arial Black for the "2" and Impact for the "CPU".

P.S. - I might submit a logo based on a slightly different concept, but I'd like to know one thing first: in what date was 2CPU officially "born" (date & time)?
