Intel's new low power PIII for dual CPU servers
Posted by: dadmin on: 03/25/2002 06:25 AM [ Print | -1 comment(s) ]
Intel have released a new low power consumption variant of the PIII that is specifically designed for dual cpu servers in dense environments, or as Intel likes to call them, ultra dense 'blade servers'.
X-bit labs is also running a page on these CPUs but I have no idea where they get the information that Intel recommends an i815E chipset be used with this processor. The Intel reference design has a ServerWorks HE-SL chipset. Anyway, the Intel specs page is here and themarketing fluff press release is here.
Each processor inside of the new dual processor systems contains 512 KB of on-chip level 2 cache...support faster PC 133 SDRAM memory and a 133 MHz system bus...11.2 watts maximum power...Currently at 800 MHz core speed.Specific details on the new CPU can be found here. Some test results for the new system can be found over here at eTesting Labs.
