In light of this information, I'm curious to see how successful IBM will be in rolling out these 65nm chips in large numbers.

Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

I read this on thereg, and the if those specs are correct, it'll be one badass piece of hardware.

As for the software, if MS gets out a great SDK (which they usually do), the games will most definitely be kickass ;)

1. Don't believe everything you read on x-bit

2. Transistor leakage/power is a much bigger overall problem
than signal integrity. Wire performance in .65nm is not really
any worse then in .9nm (in which is pretty much sucked)

It's not X-Bit who originated the speculation. It's GZEasy.

Doesn't make it any more/less true, however.

Their first console flopped because it didn't have enough games. So what do they do? They release a second one that won't run any of the first one's games. Smart...

I wouldn't go so far as to say their first console flopped. Where I am from (in europe) it is the second highest selling console. This is not bad considering the head start sony had on them in the next gen race. Also considering that Nintendo with years of marketing and experience in the videogame industry have been beaten by xbox sales. Things are not as bad as they would seam. There is also a rake of quality games out there, and presently Xbox is the only console where you can play counter strike and unreal online ;)
When MS entered the concole market they entered with a long term plan. Ultimately they were not going to sell anywhere near the amount of consoles as sony on their first attempt such was the product awareness that PS2 controls. But I would imagine that the next next gen consoles will show a more competetive side in terms of sales. At least now MS have brand recognition.

it did flop, initailly.
when I was working at atari, a lot of multi-platform titles were in production, but Xbox was dropped due to poor sales forcasts.

PS2 is a safe bet as far as developers go.

but, cool non-the-less.

Exactly my point. So now that they finally have a pretty good game base, they throw it all away and make an incompatible console? Doesn't make any sense.
