On Monday, Microsoft updated the four-month-old Beta 1 version of Microsoft Office 2007 with a "Technical Refresh" version. Office has shed the preliminary name "Microsoft Office 12" for its final name, Microsoft Office 2007, and sports an improved version of the new ribbon interface. Among the new changes to the interface is the new Office Button, two new themes, a small Quick Access toolbar, and new, highly-legible default fonts named Calibri and Cambria.

![]() I like their new fonts. Thank god they are replacing Ariel and Times Roman, which are so over used now. I knew some of the folks on their e-Books team. One thing MS has done well is fonts. They've done a lot of research on readability, and commissioned some of the foremost designers. I'm particularly happy to see a good-looking humanist sans serif font (Calibri). These fonts appear to be downloadable if you look around, but I'm not sure if those downloads are legal yet. |
