Where one core-logic developer hasn't surfaced in a few years, they're now making a return to the market. SiS, not exactly known for block buster chipsets are now in stage of reference design of the SIS761SX chipset. Matched with AMD's Opteron could bring the pricing of motherboards down lower than what they are listed for right now while still having competitive performance.
The company also plans to introduce a SIS771SX core-logic market with Opteron in mind. The SIS771SX has intergrated graphics processor (Mirage) as well as PCIe 16x interface for the latest graphics card. The Southbridge paired with the Northbridge will be the SIS966 variant. Which also supports SATA150 & PCIe 1x.
Digit-Life has the scoop.
