It's been a hectic weekend around, but unfortunately, not for news. I'm still trying to get back to all the people who replied to the "help wanted" post (If you haven't heard back from me yet, I'm getting there!), but you should be seeing a few new names on the frontpage this coming week. Please be kind. We don't want you to scare of the new guys on their first day or anything :-)

As for making our own news around here. Last week was a very good week for us. I've got some -really- cool new boards in for review as well as a case and a few other goodies. I know Jim is almost done with his next review and I have another ready to go any day. If we can't find news to post, we'll just create some of our own.

While I'm blabbing here anyway, I want to remind you guys to help support us, by supporting our sponsors. While we don't ask for you to click on banners just because, if you are in the market for some memory at least check Crucial's site (via the banner). It's good for us, good for them, and maybe good for you too.

Quite true. I could have a review of Gigabyte's GA-7DPXDW+ as early as tomorrow evening. I just have to write-up a conclusion and decide on an appropriate rating.

I apologize for the delays, but I've been dealing with a lot of shit over the last month and a half. It's been rough but things are starting to normalize. I hope.

I would be interested in the Gigabyte review, as we are about to buy a significant number (more than 10) of these boards for work.

Thanks for all the work you guys put in.

Is something new expected on the Xeon front Nov 17th (new stepping? 533FSB? faster speeds?)? I just noticed the prices on Prestonias are supposed to drop 25%+ that day.

The Northwood B 3.06 chips are due Nov 14th with the usual price slide.

It looks like Gallatin (0.13-micron Xeon MP at up to 2Ghz and up to 2MB L3 cache) finally poked it's head up:

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=6052

It looks like the move to 0.13-micron really helped to drop power consumption of the Xeon MP quite a bit... even more interesting is the nominal increase in power usage between the 1.9Ghz 512K L2/1MB L3 and the 2.0Ghz 512K L2/2MB L3 processors:

http://developer.intel.com/design/xeon/datashts/25193101.pdf

The datasheet also mentions the new Socket 604 and 533Mhz FSB Xeons, along with an updated packaging (INT-mPGA to FC-mPGA2) and a low voltage Xeon processor. Does anyone know the difference between the two other than the number of pins?
