Sun Microsystems is back into full swing this quarter with new 1U and 2U products. The company was a hefty vendor offering AMD Opteron products only a year or so ago. But, times have changed and are now offering a wider variety of product. The company is now offering Intel 5400 Xeon based processors in their 1U and 2U line up of server computing. The x2250 is a 1U box that features two sockets, packing Quad-Core 5400 series Xeons and a 32GB of Memory. The x4250 is a 2U box that has two sockets for 2 5400 series Xeons as well 64GB of Memory. The box also has support for upto 16 SAS based drives for storage.
The products will be available on 8/19/08. Check out the blurb here.
