Xbox 360 HD DVD in November (in Japan)!

Like a lot of people, I've been sitting back watching the HD DVD/Blu-ray war unfold. I've been reluctant to jump on any one bandwagon or the other for fear of wasting a LOT of money on a modern version of the Betamax, but I have been eyeing the HD DVD format pretty closely. I think this announcement may just be enough to push me over the edge:The land that forgot the Xbox are first to have their HD DVD add-on announced, due to hit overseas streets on November 17th for

I just wish these two camps could have agreed upon the format from the outset. This is not like the DVD-R versus DVD+R issue, BluRay and HD-DVD are completely incompatable - not unlike the Beta versus VHS. The biggest issue I have with whole HD media is the exteem copy prevention issues: one of the biggest is the possibility that some manufactures will require you to keep a closed loop digital chain of only their products, or products frendly to their system (conspiracy theory). I've already seen this issue with my Toshiba DLP monitor where the HDMI connector is rejecting any source I have other than a Samsung DVD upconverting player w/ DVI and HDCP.

Fuggetaboutit! Not

Why not but the PS3 for 600 and get the same result without some kludgy extra device to clutter up an already full rack.
Microshaft is doing what it does best. Doleing out what it thinks we need ready or not.

They are both good devices but I would prefer my form and function to be in the most efficient format.
