The servers are coming, says ARM's CEO
Posted by: ReMeDy on: 05/01/2010 09:35 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]
The server market is starting to heat up and will continue with the new 8 core and 12 core x86 models seen from the likes of Advanced Micro Devices and Intel. However, a new entry is amongst the two previously mentioned. Enter ARM. ARM has been in the processor business for many moons now. Although, their processors have always been delegated to the end user platform. A more productive future may be ahead. With their new processors kicking up clock frequencies of 2Ghz, low-cooling and low power consumption, the ARM chips start to look to be an attractive option in server arena. Limited by 32 bit memory addressing, though, could hamper its growth though.
